KeyStone Place names new homeless shelter director

Centreville, MI — KeyStone Place in Centreville Michigan has named a new director for its homeless shelter.

Anita Harper, who served as the interim director for the past few months, is officially the shelter’s full-time director. Anita was recently appointed to that role and is responsible for the daily operation of the shelter and overseeing all KeyStones Homeless Shelter programs.

“Homelessness has many facets,” Harper said, and it’s often a result of a variety of factors including mental health, addiction, psychosocial issues, family issues, trauma, and personal experiences. The team at KeyStone Place is trained to address these needs and offer basic life skills and support to clients, she said.

“We are delighted to have Anita at KeyStone Place. Her experience and skill set will help us continue to find innovative ways to reduce and eliminate the factors that contribute to homelessness,” said Jeff Mohney, Board President.

“She is a proven leader in advocating for individuals that are homeless in St. Joseph County,” Mohney said of Harper. “She will be a huge asset in leading the shelter moving forward.”

Mike Habig, Board Vice President, echoed that sentiment.
